i used a impact gun to get the bolt off if you don't have that like i did last time i used a bolt and a wrench to lock the flywheel so i could put the torque on that bolt... then a pulley puller or if you are lucky it might just slide right off..jp wrote:hey Im going to as you a dumb question how did you get the crank pulley off i tryed every thing to get that bolt off and it won't budge
i forgot to mention that i did that and it flows right thru there... i'm just afraid that it might also lead some where else but i don't know why it wouldeddiec wrote:run some fluid through that alley and see where it comes out. or maybe blow some compressed air through it.
i dont know where that passage leads, thats just how i would find out where it goes.
that hole is where the SOHC oil pump sump tube bolts up… the oil pump sucks oil up from there thru the block and into the pump then out into that top hole and into the filter... so with the DOHC cover and pump that lower hole is useless... or that’s my theoryDaydreamDrifter wrote:That posrt on the front of the block is an oil passage, and it requires a special seal there and also right above it is another one. You have to have these seals and the correct timing cover SOHC to match the blcok in that aspect. As for the hole in the oil oan area, I have no idea what it is.
yes it is but... the SOHC crank is about one inch longer for the SOHC oil pump and gear and the DOHC front cover is shorter and well you can't bolt the pulley unless you make a shim... i will take pics and show you what i mean..DaydreamDrifter wrote: Explain why you would have to swap the SOHC crank out, isn't it already in a good block?
i just doubled checked on that one and they line up... you are talking about the water pump rightrobertwb70 wrote:I think the bigger concern is that the cooling passages don't line up if I remember right they are on opposite sides?just use the SOHC front cover since that works for sure
I meant to say that previously. Damn.dragka24 wrote:seajrl1,you are to use a E block use the timimg cover from the E block so you wont have to mdoifiy that much and only a little plate for the slight misalignment bettween the DE head and the E valve cover......other than that it should be ok.
