I had a little work done and the emblems were on back order. I am contemplating leaving them off. What do you think?

Looks too plain and generic to me. I prefer to have the emblems, at least the logo emblem. But it is your car, do what looks good to you since you have to live with it.

What is the point of this? This is not a cheap car to be ashamed of.

It's not about shame. It's about cleanliness. I debadged and removed the "M37x" emblem and just left Mt. Fuji on the back. Did the same with my G37 when I had it. I also hate it when dealerships put their stickers or badges on the back of the car. Drives me up the wall!

Couldn't agree with you more - that's free advertising for the dealer --they SHOULD pay you for keeping it on the car.
I make sure that they take that sh** off before I take ownership.

Personally, I'd omit them. Here, less is more. Nice. It looks so much cleaner without all those gaudy badges. Esp. nice in black.

I agree...I removed the Carmax logo from mine. I prefer to leave the original badging on though....it's not like they're plastered all over the car.

I would definitely remove any dealer logo from the trunk lid, etc. I would also remove the engine size from the front fender if it's the 3.7 or 3.5 on the SUVs. Nothing remarkable about those engines. Don't get me wrong, they are amazing engines - but no need to advertise that you have the base engine. It's not like "kompressor", "bi-turbo", "V-12", etc - it's just the base engine that everyone else has.
Exception: the 5.6 emblem. That sets your M apart from the base models.
As for the model badges (M37, M56, and Q70) I think the trunk lid looks much cleaner without them. Not sure I would remove the Q70L badge as that denotes the longer body.

I think color of the car comes in to play here some too. All the emblems really stand out against darker paint and blend in a little better with lighter colors.

It all comes down to personal preference.

Been wanting to take the lettering off my trunk, but being a 4yo car I'm worried about sun and wax differences. Anyone have a recommendation? And using a simple heat gun and dental floss still the best method?

I just have The Infiniti badge on the front and back. However, it is blacked out. The M37 has been removed.....I did getting people asking what kind of Infiniti is it.

I like the factory badging and I want people to know what it is! Not to be flashy but people are dumb will think its a Hyundai or something (not bashing them, they build a good car and light years ahead a couple decades ago). Now the dealership logos and license plate frames, they are gone the day I take a car home.

I agree people can be dumb :gapteeth: ...like in the commercial for the Chevy malibu, just notice some the comments made by some of the folks because the badging was removed.

Like you I also don't do free advertising. :nono:

Mazz you want an invite next beauty parlor trip!? Some people (myself included) are just OCD/neurotic and sweat the details. Little things like dealer stickers, bumper stickers etc bug the crap out of me, everything has to be well thought out and deliberate.

Those Chevy commercials are funny with people saying how they thought it was a Jag or Benz, it has the big gold bowtie on the grill and steering wheel! (but I guess they did remove the badging on the more recent commercials) I like Chevy but that logo needs to get updated. On my Camaro I've changed the badging for a more modern but still factory look.

I HATE those commercials, but just goes to show that the general public really don't know/care what they drive. Point A to Point B and low MPGs. Pssssshhhhhh!!!

After thinking it over while getting my hair dyed and my nails did at the beauty parlor (do people still call salon's that?) I think I figured out what bugs me about removing the letters from the trunk lid and leaving the emblem.

The emblem is not centered top to bottom. Once the letters are removed it leaves the emblem high up on the trunk lid which makes it visually out of balance to me. When I see the letters removed and the lip spoiler added it looks much more appealing to me. I think I will pull my letters off if and when I get a spoiler. Without the spoiler I personally still prefer emblem with letters.

And on those commercials I imagine all the people in those commercials go thru extensive screening to make sure they know just right amount about cars so that they will react and say what the company wants them to, but not enough that they will call the bluff. And I also figure they do the same stunt with multiple groups and pick the one that best meets their desired results.

Later guys - off to the beauty parlor (I feel weird just typing that) again...

Do you just use a heat gun and peel the stuff off? Is re-install easy? Or is it basically a one way ticket? lol.

Your going to need a heat gun a micro fiber cloth, gloves and some patience. Heat up the letters for about 60 seconds then peel back by hand. there will be residue left on the car in the shape of the letters. If you are very careful it is possible to save the letters, but they are very easy to bend and crack. After your done removing the letters re-heat the left over residue and use your microfiber cloth to take it off. When i was done there was some outlines so i used some polishing compound to rub out the remaining outlines.

If you want to make life easier after you lightly heat up the letters with the heat gun use fishing line to saw in between the letters and the car. It will make removal much easier and prevent breaking the badges.

I prefer to keep the badging on my car. Seems to be a pretty common reaction of disbelief that Infiniti offered the 5.6L V8's in our M. I point out the M56x badging on the rear trunk. If they still have doubts that's when i have to open the hood. Kinda sad now that I think about it. LOL

In regards to to de-badging I instantly think of all the silly German car owners that are too ashamed with their BMW 328i, 528i, Audi A4, A6 Mercedes C300, and etc.
