Ok guys and gals,

After searching endlessly, I think I have come up with some basic answers to my questions about an aftermarket install, but I'd like the experts to weigh in. I have an SE 3.5 with everything but nav. I have a Garmin Nuvi 760, so having nav wasn't an issue. However, the ugly radio controls ARE!

It looks like I'm out of luck as far as any unit integrating with the steering wheel controls, correct? And I can't purchase a DD to match the interior from Nissan, cause they don't have one for th3 3.5?

toxik has a Pioneer unit that I'm looking at, it was in his 2.5, I believe. But it has the bluetooth and sat radio components already, so I don't have to by that extra stuff, which is great. But I would need to purchase a DD for my climate controls.....anyone have ideas on where to find one that looks decent? Have I forgotten anything?

I'm not installing the unit myself, I would electrocute myself and set my car on fire....

Thanks

Steering wheel controls will function depending on the head unit. You just need a PAC adapter.

If you have automatic climate controls (which it sounds like), then there is no factory match that I know of. Unfortunately you'd have to use something like the metra kit.

also to clarify, my DD does support steering wheel controls through the PAC adapter which I chose not to buy, but it is supported if you want one.

i actually have the metra kit, but I threw out the bracket for the automatic controls (there were a few extra brackets included) only kept the one I needed.

A/V nut or someone who has the metra kit with auto climate, please post a picture

There seems to be quite a big gap left after install

DAAN I have the METRA kit, but I have the carbon fiber overlay, so it won't do me any good to post it...

yessir, there is about a 1/10th inch gap on the left side of the kit that exists...

the Scoche kit fit a little better, and dosn't have a "pop-in" for the Auto or manual climate controls, however, it pieces together horizontally across the center...and should probably be sealed up on the inside prior to installing (wish I had one to take a picture, but I don't)

What gap are you wanting to see? I'll try to get my camera out and grab a photo.

I meant, what part of the double din do you want to see. Fitment is easier to see with a closeup, so I want to make sure I get a pic of the correct section.

Here are two photos I took previously:

I think this is the area most folks complain about with the metra kit

I can tell you that the scosche kit does NOT have this issue

i think this may be what your looking for. Im not a fan of the straight back metra or schosche kits.this one isnt the same texture as the stock but it does match the rest of the dash board. http://cgi.ebay.com/NissanAlti..._1026

the texture of that is in between that of OEM and the aftermarket kits... HOWEVER... there is absolutely no way that that kit can fit both Digital A/C and manual A/C as the seller claims... that requires and interchangebale piece that this kit clearly does not have... this is for manual climate controls only

Thanks Adam. Metra kit doesn't match the texture ... but seems to be the only option for us with that particular type of climate controls.
