Day/Night setting on navigation settings

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Does your NAV system automatically change from day to night settings or do you need to use the day/night button? If I have my headlights off, I can change from day to night settings, but if my headlights are on (or on Auto), I can't change.

So, if I leave the headlights on "Auto", my NAV is far too bright at night and I can't switch to night settings without turning the headlights off, pushing the day/night button, and then turning the headlights back on (or to Auto).

Shouldn't the switch to night setting be something I can do without turning the headlights off?

Hmmm, you should play with things a bit there. You can change the Day/Night on the screen any time, regardless of your lights being on or off. You can also ajust the brightness of the Day setting and adjust the brightness of the Night setting. When you have some time, go test things out, you can pretty much set it up to whatever your liking is. When you (or they turn on automatically) turn your headlights On, it will automatically go into the programmed "night" brightness, and when your lights are off, it will be in day mode. I hope this helps!

Def check your brightness setting on the day/night settings. It should auto dim when your lights come on in the auto setting.

Look in the Owner's Manual p.4-15 and the Navigation Manual p.8-3 & -4 and tweak "Settings | Display | Background Color".

Make sure you've got the light coloured background for the "Day" mode and the dark coloured background for the "Night" mode.

I had a similar, but opposite problem - display wasn't bright enough for me during the day. Altering this setting as I mentioned above fixed things in my case.
