Daughters QX4 Alternator goes out

7pm on the Interstate
Daughter was going back from home to Chattanooga where she is doing her internships..
It was Sunday I'm at work She left the house 3 pm.. I get a call Dad my ABS light my airbag light came on and my radio went off... Daugher is on I24 ....7pm in the Country sticks of Tennessee hills.. I tell her you need to get off next exit you come to... Dad I'm in the sticks
I'm thinking is she better stalled on the hiway or on a exit with nothing around??

Dad it has shut off Im coasting up a exit ramp but nothing is around ..
I tell her ok baby pull off the road if you can.. Ok..I say do you know what exit number you got off... "NO" is there anything around with a sign I can see a light down the road might be a store but its far away. I say are there any cars getting off. No not yet... I say you stay in the car do not get out for nothing. Daughter said i will look on GPS and tells me Dad I think it is exit 105.. she smarter than I on using that thing..

I call my local THP office long story I get a Police car there after 30 min...A guy did stop before the police got there.. Daughter says he has a new truck and he looks nice. I said ok stay on the phone with me.. I say ask him who is a good close wrecke.
He says next exit up is a town and there is a Towing place with a shop to fix it the next day... I get the name and call the wrecker

Police will call wrecker of the day and no telling were it will be taken...
Im talking with wrecker guy ask him is there a hotel close and there was
Daughter gets towed takes her to hotel..

Next day I call tell him I just put new belts and pulleys on it..
see what it is and fix it.. He calls back the wireing came off the alternator I say ok fix it
call me back let me know total..

He calls me back 2 hours later, well we cannot find on around here.
Small town Manchester Tennessee..
Then calls back hour later we found one. I say put it on

OK.... Wrecker Bill alone was $175, Alternator, labor GRAND TOTAL $675
o my fricking goodness
AND get this Daugher comes home on Friday and gets a $165 TICKET for speeding...
It really turned out OK,, My little 25 year old Baby was OK and got back

The moral of the story, Tennessee sticks will eff with your alternator.

shoot I could've fixed that for $50 and it would've been upgraded and who knows I could've been your future son-in-law lol. Good thing I'm not from TN though...just stuck here temporarily. If she ever needs work done on her ride again lmk...these rednecks around here will nickel and dime you to death for stuff THEY break.
