I have a 1974 Datsun Pickup and I want to put a Z car motor in it. What motor would give me the least headache? Is there one that I can just bolt in ? Will I need to change my tranny ? My truck currently has a blown L-18 so I thought it was a good of time as any to upgrade.

Z cars are 6 cylinders, either straight or v depending what your looking at, they span 40 years. So no, none of them are going to just drop in. For bolt in look at l16 l18 l20, ka's aren't horrible to mod in. Either way search and see what people are doing.

Hey, i uh have a datsun 240z and im looking for a Datsun 620 pick up, because i am going to do the same exact swap. i am going to do a straight six from a 240z into a 620 pick up, you wanna know why, because it fits! and no you dont have to change your tranny the F4W63 4-speed transmission in the 620's are the same as the 4speeds in the 240z. it is a good and possible build, i hope it works out as good for you as it will for me.
