Hello everyone I'm new here, infact this is my first post...WOW! Well I plan on purchasing a 240Z eventually but in the mean time I've just been checking out Datsuns on eBay and craigslist and such. There is this one particular body modification that I can't figure out if it was a factory upgrade or just some kind of extensive aftermarket add on. Heres a pic of a 240 from an auction that has this really cool flared rear end. Its a pretty cool look, and I dare say I like it. Both quarter panels and hatch form this nifty built in spoiler.

Yea so I tried looking up info on this but my endeavors have been fruitless. I noticed something on Wikipedia..umm, here it is.....

"240ZGThe HS30-H Nissan Fairlady 240ZG was released in Japan in October 1971 to homologate the 240Z for Group 4 racing. Differences between the 240ZG and an export market Datsun 240Z include an extended fiberglass ‘aero-dyna’ nose, wider over-fenders riveted to the body, a rear spoiler, acrylic glass headlight covers and fender mounted rear view mirrors. The 240ZG was available in three colours: Grande Prix Red, Grande Prix White and Grande Prix Maroon. The "G" in 240ZG stands for "Grande." Although the ZG was never sold outside Japan, in order for it to be eligible for competition in the US, Nissan sold the nose kit as a dealer's option which is known as the "G-nose".

Well I dunno, but this is intriguing.

Welcome home, Chicken!

(get it? Homechicken? LOL)

That rear spoiler is simply a poorly-molded on aftermarket unit.

Go to http://www.motorsportauto.com to see all available bolt-ons for the Z.

I'll keep an eye out for an early Z - The key thing to look for is RUST. If it's got visible rust, walk away.

BTW, Wikipedia sucks.

I'm not sure what you're looking for beyond that... it's not a "specific" mod. You can buy the wing thru Motorsport, and someone molded it in (poorly).

yuppers, greg nailed it, it's just one of any nyumber of 3 piece aftermarket spoilers taht been fiberglassed on to the hatch and quarrters, I've seen a few, not a real fan of the 3 piece spoilare, the BRE style one piece is shorter and fits the car better without the worry of bonding the other 2 pieces, as for the ZG, it's really more about the nose, the ZG nose looks more like the S130's. the ZG's fender flares are still quite popular on S30's and I never really gave much thought to the rear end as the ZG was all about the aero front end, here si a pic of a g-nose car, looks to have the BRE style spoiler, I have no idea if this would be the correct spoiler for a ZG model but the nose and flares are

I don't love the Zg nose, it's ok, and it does help to correct the poor origional aerodynamic's but I like the original style with the headlight covers, and flares I could take or leave, if they aren't needed, loose them, if you got fatty tires and they cover the rubber and keep you from flinging rocks into your windows then by all means, I'm considdering ZG's or the subtleZ for this reason, not sure how much of my tire the subtle Z will cover, and even then gonna need some trimming
