Hey guys, Finally got my CA ready to start on sunday.....but I just can't get it to start....I wired up a CA into another Datsun on Saturday...and that started first go...but cannot get my own to go.

I have pulled the loom to bits ( take the tape off ) to re-check that ALL the wires are going where they are meant to.I took my ECU and tried it on a CA that was running...and it worked fine....tried his ECU on mine....still wont start.relays are workingpump is goingengine turns overit has Spark ( tho it does look a little weak )the only time I got it to even "try" to start, was with some carb start down its throat.has DSM 450cc injectors ( ECU has not yet been written for these....but I was asuming they would still go....but just overfuel it a bit )took plugs out...and it doesn't "seem" that any fuel has been in there yet...

any ideas???

might try using other things like coil packs and ignitor off working engines to see if mine are dead.

ECU is off an Auto CA ( but engine is manual )...but the ECU worked fine on another CA without having to earth any park switch pins e.t.c.

cheers for ANY ideas!

did you try to see iff eac of your coil packs are getting spark? I would recommend doing that before buying somemore. I had so much trouble trying to start mine, you just got to keep working with it, i had to give mine some juice to turn over too

was just going to borrow a mates bits....but yeah....they are getting spark....but lookts a bit weak.

I forgot to add, that the ECU is only giving the normal 55 code....

So,

you got a spark, but not starting and no fuel going through the injectors, I would definitely check for the injectors dropping resistor pack and verify that it is installed and working properly and if you did remove it as you are using different injectors and they might be low impedance, you need to remove the pack and bypass it.

also, if you already done the resistor pack, I would suggest to ohm out the wiring from each injector to the ecu to make sure that there are no broken wires.one more thing, are the injectors new or used, as if they are using they might be clogged and require some cleaningKeep us updated and good luck,

I dunno why it's not suggested but have to checked your fuel pump?

If there is no gas you should always start at the back of the line and move forward.Fuel Pump -> Fuel Filter (though you'd usually just get ****ty flow as opposed to no gas) -> Injectors -> Electronics.

Do you have a fuel pressure gauge?

Edit: I see you say it's going, but making noise doesn't mean it's pumping (trust me, I've had it happen to me)

Well, if he is using nissan fuel pump, and it is turning on, very high possibility that it is pumping(yes there is a very little possbility that it is turning on but not pumping, personally I haven't seen it yet,but as you said it happened to you, was it a Nissan pump that you were using at that time?). Also, if it is turning on he might have it wired in backwards.

It was the pump in my lemon of a 2002 v6 Altima

Well, I guess it is something to check for sure. Doesn't take much time and gives you a better idea whether it is puming or not.

the dropping resistors are installed correctly, the DSM 450cc inj are low impedance ( around 3ohm...and the stock ones are low impedance too....about 2.6ohms.

I have ohm'd every wire in the entire loom ( takes ages! ) they are all sweet and going where they are meant to.They are used injectors....I might take them out and get them cleaned today just incase.

My fuel pump is a NOS 700HP pump, and yes, it is pumping, and returning gas ( I have a fuel can set up in the engine bay temporarily ). no filter untill I put it down the back where it should be.dont have a pressure gauge.

and pump is definately wired the right way.

from all these replies....I think it HAS to be the injectors...not opening for whatever reason.

So everyone agrees that using bigger injectors without programming the ECU for them, will still allow the car to start...just a bit of overfueling?

cheers for the help guys!

well, after all that.....I finally tracked down the problem!found out that the injectors would not open with power straight from the resistors...but would if powered from the battery.so....traced it all back to a ****ty connection in my fusebox for the constant power!gave it a sand up.....and the engine started on first crank!cheers for all the help tho guys!good work
