Hey good peoples really soon here Im going to be the new owner of a 510 and I was considering different swaps. My goal is to stay lightweight and Ive seen how the sr20 runs in one but what about a honda f20c1 out a s2000? Ive seen one on the net before and it looked kinda freaky but I gave it more thought and dug deeper to research the honda block and seen that not only was it lighter than the sr20 by around 100lbs. but it also made more power stock(although at much higher rpms...). What do you guys think and has anyone else ever seen this done? The f20c1 is a work of art but is for a different crowd in my eyes. Datsun hybrids are dime a dozen.

well id say if its going to be a track only car then the s2000 swap would be good, if you plan on driving it much on the street however id look into something else, maybe its just me but i prefer to have a little bit of power before i get to 5,000rpms

hondas "bikemotor" doesnt really have the torque Id expect. What about the weight though? From what Ive found the f20c only weighs 348 lbs. How much did your buddy snatch that motorset? clip? for? Does he have any pics?

nah, thats what his plans are. I don't know if he has actually bought the motor yet or not.

I would imagine you can drop ANY engine in the 510, so why not use a RB26DET (single turbo).

I would if i had the money, we sold ours because there was alot of rust in the bottom. One of the very vew 5 lug 510s in the COUNTRY.

KADE's are a common swap into the 510 or even the SR20det has been done. Why not those?

Rotary is good, easy, really light motor, and they're cheaper than any SR20DET you can find, just a thought.

His goal is to stay lightweight... go with the F20. People say it doesn't have any balls, but it'll be on a very light car. You can always supercharge/turbo later

How about an all motor KA24E?

If I opt for the rb26 I would have to cut the firewall out to set it back enough and that is a heavyweight for the 510. The f20 could be supercharged... With rotarys you get heat . How far can you stroke an all moter sr20 and for how much? Possibly built to get nitrous.

I still like the KA24De swap. I would also like to stuff a old L28ET in there. I'm currently trying to get a old 72' 240Z so I can drop a L28ET in.

Who knows the weight of a sr20de vs the sr20det? What does a ka24de weigh? Thanks. Soon Ill post pics of my ride I need to get my cousins digital camera I want to see what yall think mainly because it does have rust but I dont know how much is tooo much rust. Ill seek the experts. The KA is has a iron block so its a little heavier than the aluminum SRs. Full KA swaps can be found for a few hundred. Get some pics up.

A rotary swap would be sweet(I've only ever seen a couple in 510's), but as you said a blown motor waiting to happen. Glad you came down from the 0 torque bike motors, and I think the SR20DET, even though I assume it weighs more, would probably be the most fun swap to do(after it's done of course).
