Anyone ka24det their datsun 510. How does it drive? I'm doing a conversion now. also has anyone put the 240sx suspention under their datsun?I'm running a stock ka24de, turboed it and put 370cc injectors. intercooler and thats about it. I wanted to know if anyone has done the same and how fast is it. I also have 4.11 gears. I fdon't know if I want to use them because of how low they are.

are you sure the 370cc injectors are big enough? CA18DET's come factory with 370cc inj....and they are only a 1.8l....you have a 2.4l?I guess it all depends on how much power you are hoping to achieve.

Ya i've been talking to alot of people about the ka24det and thats a good start. if i only run about 5-6 psi it will be fine. How do you like you ca18det? Is it in a datsun 510? how fast is it and what kind of hp are you thinking you have?

Yes there are 510's out there with KA-T's.In fact heres one here:This is the most beautiful 510 you will ever see. You are not worthy! It dynoed at about 450Hp on race gas and lots of boost.

No you cannot use the 240sx suspension without M-A-J-O-R work. Crawl under your 510, then crawl under a 240sx, you will see what I mean.

4.11 are pretty low, I would stick to 3.70. I am running 3.70 in my 510 with an SR and it is perfect.

Ive been toying with the idea of sticking a KA24E in my 620 truck. Since i know the L20b motor and tranny are the same for the 510 and 620, how much cutting has to be done for the shifter? Id like to keep it close to the stock location as i can.

I LOVE my CA18DET...lol....yep its in a 1970 Datsun 510 ( 1600 / bluebird ).It's pretty quick...tho I havn't had it down the 1/4 yet.I've had it on the dyno once, and it got 178HP at the wheels That was running factory everything for the CA, except intercooler, 3" exhaust, and a Pod filter.

It's not running at the moment tho, because I have just put a GTiR T28 Turbo on it, 450cc VR4 injectors and a RB20DET MAF and coil packs. It just needs a new intercooler pipe to run again.I'm guessing at about 220hp with those mods still running factory boost.

hey "compression"....that is a beauty!....got any more pics of it?....or a webpage about it?

my ( very basic ) webpage has a few pics of my car e.t.c.http://www.geocities.com/datsun510power

Ya you do have to do alot of work to get 240 suspention under the 510. I did it. I was just wondering if anyone else has done the same. Your cars sick. Mines not nearly as nice as that. Did you build your motor or are you running stock internals? Also how much boost do you usually run. Also Are you running a safc or an fmu? Do you know anyone that lives in the Sacramento area and want to go cruz?

I'll get some pics on my web page. I took the 240sx struts and modified them so I could put coilover adjusters on them. then I made my own camber plates. Then you have to cut the 240sx arm and cut you stock datsun arm and weld them together. then you have to get some heims and make your other a-arm to adjust caster. much more that I expected. but very different.

Does anyone know who's nice KAT 510 this is? I was looking closely and noticed there is a sensor with a yellow wire in the intake manifold where the water line is, and I need to know who makes that sensor and where I can get one. Thanks

The yellow 510 in these pictures is not mine. It is owned by a fellow here in NW named Kevin. Heck of a nice guy.It was built by a well-known 510 guru in Salem Oregon. The car is flawless and everything was done top knotch, no expense spared. Kevin opted to remove the independent rear suspension system and in its place rests a 4-link solid axle setup, completely custom fabricated one-of-a-kind. He said he did this because the independent could not handle the power and he wanted to hook up better at the drag strip. Thats about all I know about the car, it is one of the top best-all-around 510's in the country.Oh yeah, and the KA is completely built, pistons, rods, etc, etc...Like I said, no expense spared.

I believe that is the factory water temp sender for the gauge on the dash.

The car above is mine. Glad everyone likes it. It was a long time coming (6 years) but certainly worth the effort.

The yellow wire is for the Auto Meter water temp gauge. The sensor is the one that comes with the gauge and is installed in the retapped cooling system burp port. The stock gauge is hooked up and functions because dead gauges look like you didn't finish the job.The 370cc injectors are a good start. they will handle about 250HP depending on your selection of a turbo. Beyond that you can move to 555cc or 740cc injectors but you are looking at the expense of building a bulletproof engine along with an ECU reflash and a AFC of some type.As for the gears, I started with a 3.7 rear with a new Nismo LSD but switched to the 3.89's since the OD is so high (.74). I would really like to try a set of 4.11's to see if they are the answer but the only set I can find are $1000+ for the R&P and that is absolute rape. As for the 240SX suspension, what is it you are trying to achieve? There are certainly alot of alternative suspension set ups that don't require major work. 200SX, 810 and 280ZX struts all work if you are installing coilover collars and they all have the larger spindle bearings that accept the larger hubs and big brake upgrades. As for the rear, you are more limited. A live axle conversion is a major undertaking but almost a necessity if you are going to put goobs of power to the ground. The stock IRS has to be sprung very stiffly to transfer power efficiently, rendering it all but useless. It obviously works, but it is far from optimal.

My car is already done. i put the 240sx suspention under the front. Works just fine. I'm running 460cc injectors and about 10psi. If you look at the thread " My New Datsun" thats my car. I have the 4.11 and i don't know if I like them. Probably the 3.70 ratio works fine for street driving, but the 4.11 pull good out of corners.

What trans are you running? That obviously has a large effect on how a car behaves with a given rear end. The 1992 240SX came with a 4.10 rear as standard equipment so my guess is a 4.11 might be the ticket.

I'm useing the 1991 engine and trans. Its ok but I feel like the car could be better and have a longer power band if it has higher gears. 4.11 ok for somethings and i think the 3.70 would be better in others. right now I'm at 3000-3500 rpm's on the freeway and thats just keeping up with slow traffic. I also can't get the car above 120mph. I don't know if its my torque not being enough or my aero on the car but its at 10 psi and it just sits at 4500 rpm in 5th gear.
