Hey Guys-

I did some research into getting the DATSUN 1200 emblems reproduced.  These are the 2 fender emblems and 1 tailgate for the NL320 and I believe 2 fender emblems on the L320.  I found a guy who reproduces the early Roadster emblem that is similar.  I talked to him about doing a run of the truck emblems and he said there is not enough interest.  I asked what would qualify as enough interest to which he replied 60 units.  The mold fee is $2500 and per item is $60.  Works out to about $100 per at the minimum order.  I have 3 trucks all needing 3 each.

Is there any interest out there in having a run done?  These are great reproductions with the proper mounting, ridges, triple chrome and deep red paint.  E-mail me if interested.  I have a NOS perfect one for him to pull the mold off.  No blemishes at all.

Mike, I'll bet we could find someone to replicate those in plastic (ABS?) and have them chromed... might be quite a bit cheaper.

In fact, SEMA is a GREAT place to network on things like this - Lots of Chinese and Taiwanese company reps there just BEGGING for projects like this.

AZ-

I have been talking to someone about the plastic angle, but the problem with most plastic emblem makers is the minimum quantity.  Way higher than the # of trucks still on the road.  I am looking into investment casting them in Nickle Silver then plating.  Probably will end up fairly expensive, but a low mold cost.

saad is in kuwait.  The emblems are beautifull....I just got two myself.  I have asked him about the 1200 emblems and he said he'd keep his eye open for them.  I'm 90% positive that he's not having them made, simply found a place to buy them.  I paid $35 for a used hood emblem a couple of years back when they weren't available.  Oh well :)

I'm pretty sure that he is having them made.  On another site I visit he showed some 'Skyline' and other emblems that he sells that looked close to original but you could tell that they wern't.

Hopefully, you're right.  I pm'd him at the end of April about the 1200 badges and he said that he'd be in Saudi Arabia next month and maybe he could get them there.  I guess we'll see. :)
