I'm thinking about installing a dashcam in my M35h, and I don't like passing cables to the fuse box and messing with the fuses. Has someone hardwired a dashcam to the connector of autodimm of the rearview mirror with a dongle like Dongar? Is there a risk in doing it, like the dashcam sucking more power than it's supposed to, or something like that?

Both of the circuits in the rearview are fused 10A, and the normal loads on both fuses are under 5A. So if your cam only draws an amp or so like most cameras, it's fine to patch it into the mirror wiring. Red is ignition, Green is battery, Black is ground.

Confirmed, I did this exact thing on my M37 and it worked fine. I hard wired in a generic 12V to USB adapter designed for a dashcam.

FYI the current draw on my 12V bench supply in testing was around 470mA peak for a fancy dual camera Vantrue setup (S1 Pro + rear cam) with a Vantrue USB hardwire kit.
