Has anyone successfully removed fine scratches from the pebbly black plastic used in the various dashboard panels?
Discovered a few fine ones on the passenger side on the panel that sits below the ventilator assembly and above the glove box. I don't often sit in the passenger side but was reminded today in doing so just how far that part of the dash panel protrudes towards anyone sitting there. It's no wonder it gets hit or rubbed.
It appears to be a separate piece from the assembly behind it. I assumed something this prone to getting damaged would be separately available as a part and worst case could be replaced but have been told by the local Nissan parts dept. it is part of the entire dashboard assembly and not available separately.
Of course viewing the marks head on isn't too bad but viewing them on an angle from the driver's seat is just plain annoying.
The pebbly black plastic on the dash appears to be identical to that used throughout the vehicle; i.e. door panels, door thresholds, lower door pillar covers and even the trunk compartment wall liners. So if anyone had had success with any of these in being able to buff, sand, polish or otherwise remove fine scratches in any other manner, I'd sure appreciate hearing from you.
Thanks!
