Okay so this just started today...so everytime I turn on my headlights my dashboard lights go off. I haven't had time to do any tinkering but do you guys have tips on where I should start?

fuses....there is a short somewhere.

Did you install anything electrical recently?

As stupid as this will sound, make sure your adjustable dial that controls the intensity of dash lights is turned up. It's on the lower left under the steering wheel. I constantly bump it all the time with my knee.

If it's not that, I'm with BS. What's changed recently?
