Dashboard Lights

I have something weird going on with my lights on the dashboard... When I turn on my headlights on the lights on the dash, radio and hvac control lights shut off I am not sure if this is a fuse or what. The lights work fine when I have the headlights are off...Very strange.

What happened was I was pulling my radar detector out of the cig lighter and it came apart in the lighter area, and something shorted out...I replaced the fuse for the cig lighter and it's working again. I'm not sure if it did something else when this happened.

Any help would be great.

Not to be rude or anything but did you check if the dimmer switch is just all the way off cuz I would think if you had a short somewhere the lights wouldn't work at all. Deffinatly not tryin to be an a$$ but sometimes the simple things are overlooked. Same thing happened to me while cleaning I accidently turned it off and it took a couple days before I figured it out.
