So, because Texas summer is harsh and I have no window tint, my car has accumulated no less than 5 cracks on the dashboard. I started looking around at my options, as these make the dash look like crap, and you can't avoid seeing them. so this is what I found and tried:

Permatex Dashboard and Vinyl Top repair kit- $11 something at autozone.

I guess you get what you pay for though- it looks like total sh-- on my dash, like colored putty. Maybe I haven't been doing it right- anybody else try this?

I sanded the crack down, and about a half inch surrounding it, with 220, then 400 (but only a little sanding). I filled the crack with that adhesive, although I doubt that did any good, because the crack is too slim for that crap. Then I did up the paint + hardener, a super-thin layer, smoothed it over the sanded parts and the crack. Then, did the heat tool. Now, the 'new' vinyl is not blending in with the old dash; instead, it has lips around the edge and looks like crap.

Anybody else try this stuff? And what other options do I have for trying to make it look decent again?I guess now would be a good time to look for a new black s13 dash...

I tried to use it just yesterday and found it too difficult to use.

I looked at the instructions then looked at how bad my dash was I looked at the instructions then looked at how bad my dash was I looked at the instructions then looked at how bad my dash was

and wept for the loss of my $5 bucks... Wal-Mart!

I just have too many cracks with gapping holes! Arizona Sun is really good at doing that!
