Well, more accurately, the surround of the upper dashboard 'glasses' compartment (directly above the analog clock). How do I remove it in order to replace it?
Thanks in advance!

Pics? It's hard to imagine where precisely you're talking about.

Not sure how to post a picture. There is a compartment on the top of the dash. The lid is hinged near the windshield and there is a crack in the plastic between where the hinge posts go through. This plastic piece ( I called it a surround) is what I want to replace. That help?

You need to remove the vents and HVAC/radio surround (all one unit). They're not screwed in, just attached by spring clips. Pull out on it and it will come loose. One good way to pop it loose is to pry with a screwdriver wrapped in a towel.

Once the vents are out of the way, you'll see the screws holding the upper clock trim (which is the same piece as the glasses surround). Remove those and the whole compartment will lift out. Take care not to tear the wire out of the back of the clock when you lift the piece out.

I believe P/N: 28529-0P00 is the bulb for the clock. You can contact IoS (Infiniti of Scottsdale) - "infinitipartsUSA.com" to verify. It's @ $3+ each but shipping is $9. You can also try "Autolumination.com" from the link below and look (scroll down) for a "Neo-wedge LED" and try to match the dimension of the bulb you are looking for.

A cheaper alternative maybe Radio Shack Microlamps, P/N: 272-1092. It's rated at 12VDC, 60mA, 0.15 MSCP brightness with 1" wire length. At <$2 a pair, it's a huge savings if you can make it work. Refer to link below. This bulb can be used in some of the backlighting requirements of Infiniti/Nissan cars. You may have to be creative during the replacement procedure - unwind the original bulb from socket, insert new bulb and wind leads, then cut off excess length.

Since i am cheap i dont turn the backlighting all the way up for the speedometer-odometer
so the bulbs last longer
