Hey guys, I been looking around for a solid dashboard cover that is both aesthetically pleasing and that gets the job down. I did some research to look around and found so many options that I might need help narrowing down. I appreciate any opinions, criticism, experience, or questions about anything. I would like to collect as much input as possible before making my decision. Thanks!

Model: 2012 Nissan Rogue S FWD 2.5 liter DOHC 4 Cylinder

I been looking throughout the web and found out there are three major dashboard cover brands: Dashmat, Dash Design, and Coverking, which all have high rated reviews. Also, of the three materials of dashboards (Carpet, Velour, and Suede), I'm leaning towards Carpet due to its durablilty. Velour is very smooth like velvet. Suede is leather like, which I don't think will do too well in very hot weather. Now, one of the biggest thing I was confused about were the climate control and auto headlight requirement. I assume my model doesn't carry them since it's not the SL premium model.

For Dashmat, I might use the GPS setting option because I assume that will open up the center for the center audio system.

I've been looking at dash covers and would like to hear input on this too. I would prefer something molded that doesn't need adhesive velcro strips. Thanks for bringing this up RogueXcom.

Anyone out there in Rogue Land have a dashboard cover installed??

Good point Mr. Stricken. Doesn't the right side dash flip open above the glove box for the passenger airbag?

Well, after tossing and turning for a whole day on what dash cover to buy. I decided to just wing it and go with the DashMat VelourMat Dashboard Cover Nissan Rogue (Plush Velour, Gray).

http://www.amazon.com/DashMat-VelourMat ... automotive

Pro:
Cost $27.59
Plush Velour (Very soft and nice)
Color: Gray - Neutral Color - I thought about black for the stain value, but in the sunlight, it's probably going to be an eyesore looking at all the dust. Also, since I have a gray and black interior scheme, it should match.

Con:
Uncertainty - I read a lot of reviews about Dashmat and it's basically a hit or miss, so I'm going to risk it with paying $20-30 less than the market price and settle with whatever. At least it's Amazon, so I can return it right away if it is that bad.
Plush Velour - It is a delicate fabric, so cleaning it is a bit trickier than carpet

The purpose of the dash cover anyways was to protect and prevent any damage to the dashboard. As long as it gets the job done, I'll be satisfied. I'll be even more satisfied if the product I ordered does its job while saving me $20-30 less than the market price. Best of luck, I'll update you guys in a couple weeks when it shows up.

Funny - I had this one in my Amazon Wish List. Could you give us a review when you get it and maybe some pictures of the installation?

If your only concern is protection, I never saw a dashboard cracked or faded due to sun light for the last 10-15 years. The old cars with their brittle dashboard plastics are cracked by time.

My personal opinion is those covers look ugly/old fashioned and as ImStricken mentioned Airbag interference is always a concern.

Well, I'm going to have to take the risk and find out how the cover is going to look like. I just look at the dash cover as a small investment to prevent something costly. It could be color fading, sun damage, or maybe accidental interior damage (You never know what could happen).

I've had dash covers on 2 vehicles. They also eliminate summer glare off the dash and allow you to toss sunglasses or a phone on the dash without having it slide around, but both of my vehicles did not have passenger airbags. Stricken brings up a good point. I see the outline on the Rogue dash where the passenger airbag sits. The pictures I've seen of the covers have the mat stopping at the top of the opening for the airbag. We'll have to get a report from RogueXcom when he gets his installed.

So did you install your dash cover? What do you think? Please post pictures if you can...

Here are the pictures of the dashboard cover (Sorry that's it's not the best of quality)

Conclusion:
Right now, I haven't velcroed the mat onto the dashboard and going to wait like one or two weeks for the mat to mold in. Anyways, my initial impression is that it is not going to wow anyone, but it will get the job done. Of course, you can pay more for better quality ones, but for the price I paid, I'm satisfied. The dashmat seems to cover majority of the board, excluding the holes for the AC dashboard vents, so it looks good. The obvious imperfection is the groove of the mat covering the frontal ac vents. I assume that the packaging and being in a box for a week makes an impact on making in rough. Anyways, I could steam it a little to straighten it out (NEVER IRON VELVET). As for the material, the velvet is nice and smooth to touch, basically you can glide your hand over.

Verdict:
I give it a generous grade of B due to the pricing ($27.59). It is what you pay is what you get. However, for me, I'm satisfied with the purchase.

you want to protect the dash, but you are willing to stick velcro that has glue on it, on the dash = which will leave the glue residue forever? doesnt make sense.

Good point, I could just leave it on without the velcro. However, the glue residue can be removed by alcohol.
