Hey guys, not sure what the problem is, but sometimes when i accelerate hard, my "brake" light on my dash comes on for a couple of seconds and turns off. It just started happening recently. i noticed it mainly does it when i accel on an uphill. any ideas what it could be? thanks in advance.

Yep, brake fluid. Check the level, its probably slightly low. When you accelerate or drive up a hill, the fluid moves past the sensor.

I had this problem, started happening more and more frequently. Ended up being the master cylinder. Covered under standard warranty to 36K.

I get this issue but only when taking turns aggressively and then trying to accelerate.

People if you are under 36K go get this checked out. The master cylinder would have been about $800. Check your fluid, if its not that Id go straight to the stealership.

Brake fluid does look a bit low, its at the MIN line. im already at 40K miles on my car. soooooooooo yeaaaaa. Thanks everyone. hopefully that'll solve the problem. never knew there was a sensor for that.

AltiCoupeDan: definitely not the ebrake. it was the first thing i checked. when u pulled it up slightly b4 the first click, the warning screen pops up on ur dash.

sorry it took awhile to reply. i dont get holidays off, sucks working in the food industry. need a change in career LOL

99% chance it IS the brake fluid. some of the older members remember threads like these. this is like the 5th thread about it and every persons problem was solved by adding some brake fluid (including myself). so put some brake fluid in it and the problem should go away

refilling your fluid will make the light go away...but check out your brakes, because the fluid only goes down for one of 2 reasons.

a leak,

or most likely worn pads.

the kind the cap says. dot 5
definitely dont put 5 in your reservoir.... the cap says use DOT 3 only.... but I just did my brakes and put in DOT 4. you can put any DOT 3, 4, or 5.1 and you should be good.

idk about that. my light came on and I put some fluid and the light went away. I havent replaced my brakes and the light hasnt come on since. it happens to pretty much everyone. I think after like a year or so of owning the car it comes on. I put some brake fluid and it hasnt come on since then. I've owned the car for 3 years and 4 days and have almost 33,000 miles on it.

Refilling brake fluid is easy guys, no need to go to dealer unless it's something more serious.

I used Dot 4. All it means when it goes up is that it can withstand higher brake temps.
