Can anyone tell me exactly which dash indicator lights should come on and go off when you start your vehicle? I have a 1992 conv and all the 5 red ones on the right come on and go out (with the exception of the seatbelt light which stays on for 100 seconds even when my belt is buckled) but only one on the left lights and goes out. It is the check engine light. Ones that seem like they should come on and go off are the fuel, and at least the windshield washer lights. My fuel was down to less than 1-1/2 gallons last week and no warning light came on. Anybody have answers to these questions? thanks in advance. Just trying to find out which should always make a temporary appearance to show they are working.

most of my cluster lights haven't worked in any of my cars.. they are generally useless anyway.

I have found that when something electrical on the car doesn't work, it generally is a minor thing that keeps it from functioning. Most generally a lack of maintenance. Such as corroded wiring, or pinched or rubbing wiring. Usually it is something that can be overcome easily and then I'm able to enjoy the feature that I paid for in the first place. Knowing that yu're low on washer fluid is good before you head out on the highway. thanks for the feedback, though.

my washer light has never turned on, and the fuel light takes a long time to turn on too. maybe you do have a short somewhere but i don't believe the washer light has turned on. as for the seatbelt light, i notice mine stays on up until the passive belt stops moving.

the fuel light is generally worthless because when it turns on you have about 5 miles to get some gas at most. usually less. If your fuel light comes on then your fuel is too low. you should generally keep enough fuel in the tank to cover the pump (for performance reasons and for fuel pump cooling reasons).

but yeah I mean its a pretty quick check, pull out the cluster, check the bulbs, chances are good they are bad, clean and lubricate the plugs that go into the cluster. that would probably fix it.

thanks. is that someting that is easily done, "pulling the cluster" such as reach up under the dash and pull a big plug that has all the bulbs in it? Don't get my new fsm for a few days more from now then I can look in it and see what the process is, I guess.

you remove the trim around the cluster and then pull it out. its not that bad but unless you drop the steering wheel you will probably crack the plastic surround. My advice is just to drop the column it takes like 2 seconds to undo the 4 bolts that will give you the space you need.
