My car (89 240) has some heat cracks in the dash plastic. I've looked around at options to repair the cracks, and it looks like the best option may be swapping out the dash for a new one. Everything else seems to end up looking like a bondo job or requires refinishing the dash in leather/alcantra.

How hard is it to swap out the entire dash? The stereo isn't a big deal to me, but I've never swapped gauges and the rest of the electronics/vents/controls.

Is it possible to find a decent dash at a Pick n Pull, or are there better sources?

Thanks

dash replacement isnt hard to do at all... drop your steering column and unbolt the screws from the dash.

but imo, its almost a waste of time. the "new" dash is gonna crack again. took me an afternoon swapping one from the junkyard that was uncracked.. 3 months later.. i got 2 long lines on the driver side, wasted effort. id say lay those carpet dash covers or get the old one fiberglassed. I am in the process of fiberglassing my first one right now... gonna see how it turns out.
