Has anyone else experienced a slight creaking or tapping sound coming from somewhere in the dash? It's not real loud but it's definitely there. Has anyone discovered the source or fixed it?

That could be anything. Check your sunglass holder... most common "rattle" I've heard of is that sunglasses in there sometimes make noise.

Yeh, I had that issue a few days back. It drove me CRAZY! But I just moved a few things around. really the most common rattle I have is in my glove box, I have a few things in there. So cheack for any loose objects in there

I thought about all of those things too. We've emptied the glovebox and the sunglass holder. It's definitely coming from somewhere in the dash it's self. It almost sounds like the dash is flexing just enough to creak and pop. That may not be what it is, but it kinda sounds like it.

The plastic frame on top of the audio center does make noise by itself, I just figure out mine. i have to live with it unless change it. drives me crazy! Nissan should uses better plastic for the dash.

I'm actually decently impressed with the plastics used in the Versa - not much different than first gen G35s, really. I just wish all car companies would dampen their plastic parts (no matter how "hard" or "soft" the plastic is) with some sort of felt tape prior to assembly. That way plastic-on-plastic contact would be minimized.

Easiest way to get rid of that sound is to turn up the music...go to about volume 25ish the all thoses little noices you hear disappear.

As much as I appreciate music, especially music while I drive, there are times that I like to drive without music, or with it turned down low. Like when I've got friends in the car and we're carrying a conversation, or just when I want to go for a drive and appreciate the sound of the engine. That's why I've always been a rattle-hound with my cars...although the Versa hasn't needed it yet, thank goodness - but winter is coming, so we'll see.

For the first few months I had my Versa I had a noise in the area where the sections of the dash meet near the center. But it only happened on one section of interstate where the creases between the concrete sections got a regular shaking pattern going. It bothered me even with music going, but then it disappeared. Maybe pieces settled in or the wear point got worn or lubricated, but in any case it's gone. So hopefully matt_a, boqibama and others just need to be patient and the problem will solve itself.

By the way, do you people think NISSAN can replace the noisy dash part under warranty?

The big problem with fixing squeaks, creaks, & rattles is actually pin-pointing the cause. A dealership can't fix the problem until they can identify it. That tends to be difficult with some noises. Especially if they are coming from under the car or buried deep in the dash. I'm probably going to have better luck tracking this one down myself.

What i do in this circumstance is take a piece of paper and fold it up and color it black and squish it between the 2 pieces of plastic that are making the squeak.
