Ok so I bought my car about 2 weeks ago and love it. Although the head unit in it sucked so I bought a new one installed everything everything was working nice. The next day I notice my low beams wouldn't turn on it went straight to high beams, my dash was out, and so were the tail lights. So I checked a fuse changed one of them third from the left on top row by clutch pedal. Can't exactly remember the name though. So my tail lights and low beans are back now. But my dash is still completely black. I have tried searching the forums but can't find something similar to my problems so any help would be really appreciated. Is there another fuse I should check? I'm just not sure this is my first z so I don't know anything about them and am learning as I go. Thanks

Not sure there's anything from the interior there, but there's a main fuse box on the DS fender under the hood with the fusible link, fuses, etc.

This problem started after your new head unit was installed right?
Well your installers might have spliced into the dimmer. (So that the radio will dim as your dash dims)
Try to adjust the dimmer on the dash, then see if your new head unithas a dimmer adjust option, if neither of those work get that head unit detached from your dimmer.

Btw. This is not an exact science, could just be a fuse, but just remember this as a backup. I've seen this problem on allot of other model cars. So cant hurt to throw in my 2 cents. Best of luck.

The name of the fuse you are talking about is the illumination fuse. I had the same problem a while back.

But after I replaced the fuse I didn't have a problem with my dash lights.

I suggest you try holding and or tapping your dimmer switch buttons because they might be worn.

yeah it was the illumination fuse i changed. thats when the head/tail lights came back on, but dash remains dark.
i checked the wires, the dimmer ones are not connected to anything just there, no wire showing. so i just dont know what else to check :wtf2: . thanks for all the replies.
