My dash lights in the S14 went out last night...Still have turn signals, headlights, brights, lighter socket, everything but the dash lights...
any ideas before I go tearing into the fuse block today would be appreciated.

Yeah that's what it sounds like, a fuse or loose connection somewhere.
Mine did that and I inadvertantly fixed it by pulling the gauge cluster and tightening everything.
Does your radio work fine? The lights and everything? I believe the dash lights are grounded through the radio also. When I took out my radio my dash lights wouldn't work until I reinstalled it.

if the bulb in the dimmer switch blows it kills the circuit! it acts sort of like a fuse, (how cheap
). so you dont nessisarily need a new switch, just the bulb that goes in it
