dash lights (94 J30)

I have kind of a weird problem, my dash lights, clock, radio, and climate control lights sometimes turn off when i turn on the headlights. Other times, they stay on, i can't figure out where to begin looking to fix this problem so they will always stay on.

So this crap happens to others too? I used to have this problem with my altima when i had it. It only seems to be a problem in cold weather when its been idle for a long time. Other than that im not a big help here before i had a chance to figure that one out the altima got smashed. im also really interested if someone knows
