dash light question

hey fellas. well here's the story my buddy has a 1987 N/A 300zx. and honestly he doesn't know much about it, he got it from his dad, who also doesn't know much about it. but luckily he's got me and i have you guys. im generally on the 240 convertible forum thats my home, but anyways to the question i have for you guys. wtf is this light and why is it on? and btw the pic is upside down, only clear way i could get a shot.

I'm going to assume that he doesn't have an owners manual or a repair manual, right? Because the answer is in both of those books, as well as the factory service manual. That's okay. I went ahead and put the descriptions and pictures online as well.

thats the coolant warning lamp, there is a sensor in the bottom of the overflow tank, it's either empty or damaged

aww i thnk its a good thing its not turbo as you know most turbo Z's have had some heavy footer behind the wheel. this car was old man owned.
