Ok so I fixed the cigarette lighter today. All along I was wondering what it could be, but today it occured to me to check the fuse. The fuse turned out to be blown. So, I changed that.

Now, my two other problems. The first is the notorious headlight problem on J's. My passenger headlight is acting crazy. Where is the relay located? Also, I know Joe gives good deals on parts. Can I have his number? Do I tell him about Nico?

The other problem is that my dash lights/instrument lights wont come on anymore. None of the dash lights nor the radio/climate control display turn on. The only time my radio/climate control lights will show is if I have the headlights off. Do you get what I am saying or should I explain a little more? lol

Is there a relay/fuse for the instrument/dash lights? If so, where is it located?

Please help me. My J is on the road to recovery. Little things like this make me want to sell my J. But I still love it...so yeah..please help.

Take care.

Later...:help

Check out Carlos' site for several J30 issues... Click Here...

Here's a direct link to the relay.http://www.fuzzycats.com/docs/headlight_relay.pdf

The interior light issue is probably the dimmer switch. I've heard of it before. You can replace it, or some members have found that cleaning it with electrical contact cleaner works well too.

Joe's number is 1-888-216-5328. You can mention NICO, he posts here from time to time and helps us out a lot!

The instrument/dash lights on my son's J were behaving exactly as you described. Cured with a new dimmer switch from Joe.

How much did it run you? So I guess I will be getting a dimmer and a relay from him.

Does anyone recommend me getting these parts from ebay or from salvaged J's?

Thanks for your help guys.

Click on the link to Infinitipartusa.com and put in the data describing your car. The part will be on the first page displayed for 93 J30; it is $83.53. I don't know if you can get a lower price by calling and identifying yourself as a NICO member since I ordered mine via the internet.
