When I bought the car four years ago, I didn't have any dash illumination when the parking or headlights were on. First I toggled the dimmer switch which didn't work. Then I replaced the switch with a new one, no luck. Finally I shorted two wires which provided full intensity when the lights are on. The problem is that my eyes tire of the intense light constantly and I would like to be able to dim the light at times. What needs to be replaced under the dash? Someone mentioned a white box called the timing control unit? Can't see a white box. Any ideas?

its a white box about 5" long by 4" wide by 1.5" thick. yes you will need to remove the trim to see it.

it should be made of plastic ,attached to some part of the dash with a braket, 1 connector with approx 10 to 20 wires in that connector(rough guess). it should be the only white plastic box about that size under your dash.

on the 240s I believe its in the kick panel by the fuse box. The dealer will know what it is if you call them. but when you do call dont use the acronym cause they may mistake it for the transmission control unit.

it gets called both depends on who is reffering to it. you just dont want to use the acronym since the parts guy might call it something else.
