dash harness question

Ok, my friend is doing an SR swap and I took his old motor (dohc) and replaced it with my sohc, for the swap I used his dohc dash harness connector plug that comes off the ECU. Now the thing is he needs a dash connector plug because the SR one won't work, they already started wiring mine (the sohc plug) onto the SR harness for his dohc car... will this work? They said it matched up, but I was pretty sure the pins were different, this would be the reason I needed the plug in the first place. Thanks.

So you put his DOHC in your SOHC chassis?

You will need the conector from your SOCH harness that plugs into the dash. He should be using his DOHC dash plug on the sr harness. Only 7 of the wires need to be matched up for the dash harness.
