Hello,

I have a 1991 Hardbody that has just recently had a problem with the "Brake" warning light inside the dash. It started as a flicker, to an on and off again situation, but now it stays on when the truck is turned on whether the E-brake is engaged or not. I am almost certain it is a sensor, but after a search of torn apart trucks at the junkyard as well as my repair books I have been unable to locate where this sensor is on the truck.

I assume it near the rear brakes, but I am having zero luck finding anything that would look like a sensor.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, pics of the location would be even more appreciated.

Thanks.

So, this indicator used to trigger the e-brake, meaning it would tell me if I had my e-brake on. Does it also tell me if my brake fluid is low?

Well, I'm an idiot. I had no idea that sensor was also for my brake fluid, but you were right on. It was super low. I completely thought it was a sensor for my e-brake.

O'well, learn something new every day I guess.

Thanks again.

you will still want to do a brake inspection. as pads and shoes wear down, calipers and brake cylinders fill up with fluid lowering your level.

The silly thing is the low level of brake fluid was do to replacing the rear breaks to include the wheel cylinders, the level did not go down right away so I did not think anything of it, than a month later the light came on. It all makes sense to me now. Brakes work like a champ now.
