So I took my A/C out on the interstate for the first time since I bought it and was thrilled!!

I do have two questions concerning the dash cluster however.

1) Is there a way to dim down the brightness? I love the gauges but at night on the interstate they were really bright. I looked around a bit but didn't see a knob or anything that would adjust the brightness. Thought maybe it could be on the menu but it doesn't let you access it while the vehicle is in drive. Is it in an obvious place I just overlooked?

2) This one concerned me a bit more. The information screen that displays your mph and mpg appeared to be frozen. It showed me at 28mph and like 26.1mpg the entire time. Anyone else have this happen to them before? I do know that it worked originally but being that it's not my daily driver I didn't notice it until tonight when I was going through the menus while driving.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

I don't believe there's a way to dim down the gauge cluster easily. There's most certainly a way, but it would require opening up the dash.

About the speed and mileage on the information display; what you are seeing is your average since the last reset. The longer you drive, the more it will take to make it fluctuate.

I've been sitting at 30mph and 17.6mpg for weeks now. Just do a reset by pressing and holding the circle button while on that screen.

Thanks so much for the reply!

It kinda boggles me they didn't put in a way to adjust the brightness of the dash. I have never owned a vehicle that hasn't had that option.

I discovered the brightness setting on accident. Believeit or not its kinda under the tachometer and it looks like an odometer reset switch. It spins andyou can dim the cluster with that for headlights on and off. At least you can on my coupe lol

There is a skinny black nob under the tach. You have to turn it to adjust the brightness but you will need to adjust the brightness with the headlights on and off because if you do it with the headlights off only once you turn your lights on it will get brighter again its an automatic setting from factory.

If you had taken the time to read the Altima Owner’s Manual, you would have learned how to dim the instrument cluster.

Section 2 of the manual is "Instruments and Controls". Instructions are there.

Why people do not read the manual is beyond me.

The dimness control is that little black knob opposite your mileage knob. The mph display is keeping track of your avergae miles per hour since the last reset. You can see how long it's been since the last reset by viewing your time screen as well.
