Dash cluster acting up

I have a 2000 maxima and the cluster has been acting up sometimes the gauges dont work, or the tach will bounce or theodometer will show 0 for the mileage. what could cause this. I tried cleaning the battery terminals and tested the alt (fine) seems like a ground problem but where to start?? any help would be great.

Check for a loose wiring connection to the cluster?
