I've been trying to find this anoying noise for the longest time. It sounds like I have something vibrating against my firewall from the inside. even when my cars idling you can here it slightly but when you start driving it get louder and stays constant. has anyone ever had this problem? My car is a 90 hatchback.

I've got this on my 95...just turn the radio up.

I actually took off all of the exhaust heat shielding, so that wasn't my problem. Then i thought it was the metal vent bracket for the transmission (top bolt on the bellhousing attaches this metal vent tube to the bell) but it wasn't that either. I gotta go clear codes today, mbe i'll look a little closer at the firewall area.

I think I found my problem actually im almost positive. I noticed the brake lines that go along the firewall all the clips for them are broken. after I messed with the lines a little bit the noise isn't as loud and goes away for a while but eventually comes back but still not as loud
