How's it going guys-

I have a '99 Q45t w/140k miles on it, just bought it recently. And now when I start the car and drive it in the morning, it performs smoothly as usual, but by the time the engine warms up, and when I have to come to a stop during driving, the car will just idle VERY low, then the engine cuts off.

And I'm left with a little 'check engine light'; I've had this problem for about 2 days now, and I plan on going in to an auto shop tomorrow morning to get an OBD reading. But I really don't trust my beloved Q in the hands of 'outsiders', lol.

Anybody here have any ideas as to what might be happening? I'm starting my SEARCH after I post this up, but any assistance & info you guys could give me would be humbly appreciated! Thanks!

Welcome to NICO, lesefx.

Any maintenance history on the fuel and intake system? Miles?

We are starting to see fuel pump failures on the FGY33 now, so have you checked fuel pressure at idle and WOT? Presume battery and alternator are up to OEM minimum specifications?

I found the problem-

When I recently had the car smogged a week or so back, after it was returned to me is when these problems began to persist. I found out that it was a loose MAF connection- I guess the didn't do a good job of reconnecting it, and I also noticed a half-assed job of replacing the air box filter, which is what cause my idle problems.

I guess it just pays to be your own mechanic- I've only had this FGY33 in my hands for barely 2 weeks, and I'm starting to really crack down and aspire to become more knowledegable on it's ins & outs. As a former S30 and S13 driver I know it'll save me lots of hard earned $'s to familiarize myself as much as possble.

Going off on a bit of a rant, I just love this car, it's so smooth and reliable (so far) even with it's higher mileage. It's definetely a much more confortable step up from the S13 chassis!
