Well it looks as if the sunroof drain tube got clogged and it backed up into the power antenna casing - causing the bottom half of the circuit board to short and corrode.

The film is peeling off the back of the board so I can't remove and resolder the $5 or so worth of parts. Anyone else had this problem? Any other cars with compatible pwr antennas that don't cost $200 from Infiniti? lol

Did you try IoS?

Now you know why we are so big on preventative maintenance as failed systems repalcement is expensive.

Might try a junkyard board.

I'm all about preventive maint - I made sure to lube the mast regularly, but I guess checking the sunroof tubes slipped through the cracks. There are cheaper alternatives on ebay, but I think I'll snoop through the JY's first and see what they've got.

Thanks

Always retract the antenna when cruising at 130MPH and above, as the wind slightly bends the mast causing retraction problems....dont ask how I know

We should make it more aerodynamic.

But I have the whole antenna set up from a 1991 Q45 if it fits.

I don't recall the 1st gen having a circuit board...

Check out http://www.car-part.com for used. I have never head of this before, so you have a decent chance of getting a good one used.
