Does it boot to the main home screen? You should be able to back up your saves at the least.ThatSRguy wrote:So I was playing CODWAW and wham frozen screen. Went to reboot Ps3 came back on, now it won't read ANY type of cd/dvd/game/bluray my ps3 is 3 months out of warrenty and now they want me to pay $159.00 to get a refurb w/o my hard drive info on it (all saved games goodbye) i am highly upset at sony for this
That actually brings up an interesting question.Jeff G23 wrote:You should be able to back up your saves at the least.
Not an option with PS3. The HDD is internal and not removable.marlin29311 wrote:Although in the end it doesn't really matter - just put your HDD onto your new box or something...I did that....
Actually it is, in fact the ps3 comes with instructions on how to remove the drive. just pop off the panel on the side to the left of the disc loader and you can access it from there.http://www.gamersreports.com/article/43/MinisterofDOOM wrote:

Really? I haven't had any issues moving any content to either of my 2 memory units (save for space limitations). Do you have specific examples of which games?MinisterofDOOM wrote:

With the Xbox, 360, and Wii, save files for some games CANNOT be copied to another storage device. No backups. It's STUPID, especially with the Wii which has miniscule onboard memory. Is the PS3 the same way.
You can also save all of your memory via USB onto a flashdrive or an external harddrive. And if you have a 60gig PS3 like me, you can also save/copy/transfer memory via SD, Micro SD, Pro Duo, or Compact Flash as WELL as USBMinisterofDOOM wrote:Ah, well then, not issue.
I have a close to launch system... does that count?Dasoupdude wrote:
compared to the countless stories of broken 360s i hear, i still dont think theres is a launch system that is in existence.
did you hit the power switch in the back or the power button in the front? I figure your paying for labor, the diode, and shipping so ya. A pain and a pretty penny i know, but your pretty much limited on optionsThatSRguy wrote:sooooo if i would have help the eject button instead of the power button it would have been okay? and they are charging me 159.00 for a new diode? i fail to see how this can any way cost any where near that much
Something simmilar happend to me. The diffrence was my PS3 froze due to over heating and no fired dioed.ThatSRguy wrote:So I was playing CODWAW and wham frozen screen.
