I'm thinking of possibly purchasing some dampening products from dynamat or similar products from second skin.

But before I do - I'd like to identify the sources of noise in the Versa.

For me, the most road noise seems to pass from the hatch/rear wheel wells? And I would like to possibly explore dampening the A pillars, as well as the firewall.

Any other suggestions? Advice?

recommend rubberized undercoating/sound deadening truck bed spray products in the front wheel wells and rear wheel wells behind any wheel well liners you see will notice the biggest improvement within that area. under the carpeting in the passenger compartment is actually sound deadened by styrofoam that is about an inch thick. after the wheel wells look at the roof I don't recommend any thing that sticks to the outside panels due to paint-less dent removal techniques for this application a buddy or 2 and lots of patience are in order what i recommend for this area is flexible polyfoam cut into panels that are a little bigger than factory size and replace the factory size mat about 1/2 inch thick should do th job properly. and for the door dynamat in 1 inch wide and 1to6 inches long strips to help drop the vibration properties of the inside panel do not affix to the outer door skin for previous reason stated. the object is to deaden as much noise as possible with out adding a lot of weight and unnecessary soud deadening product.

Thanks for the tip.

I've noticed that the road noise is by far the largest source - and some wind noise seem to enter the cabin from the pillar A.

I've found pretty good schematics for removing the pillar A coverings - and I think I'll work towards applying water-based curing putty by hand in the wheel wells (which will also have the side benefit of delaying rusting).
