Hello all.

This is my first post here and I've got a question four you all:I was looking into replacing the fuel pressure regulator on my 2000 Infiniti i30 and when I called over to the local Nissan deal to ask about it they told me to "buy the dampener along with it, it's always done that way". Wouldn't be an issue if this part didn't more than double the total cost. I'm curious if this dampener has to be replaced along with the FPR, and weather or not, what function it serves?

Thank You!

Not familiar with the VQ30DE, but the FPR seldom fails on the VH45DE.

Be very certain of your diagnosis.

The general theory is if ethanol destroys a FPR the it also takes out fuel pressure damper diaphram. They work in concert at beginning and end of fuel rail to stablize pressure.

Oh boy... another expensive sub-plenum fuel component to worry about with ethanol!
