So I'm dropping a friend off after a study session and he slams the rear passenger door a little too hard and the glass falls down as far as the door panel will let it. I tried to use the switch to get it to go back up, but now I only hear the sound of the motor trying to work and a clicking noise instead of the window going up. I am super pissed to say the least. Am I correct in thinking that this is a window regulator? Please get back to me ASAP as I want this fixed very, very soon.

Also, what do I do in the interim? Do I WT it and put cardboard up there? Do I use super glue? I've got nothin.

Nick

It's the regulator... probably nothing to do with slamming it. The window will typically stay stuck in the "up" position if you pull it up, but I wouldn't count on it.

I took the door panel off of mine, removed the motor and cables (leaving only the track) and clamped a pair of vice grips in the right place to keep it from falling down. Worked great while I waited for the new one to arrive from Scottsdale, and the week or two delay before I got around to installing it.

It won't stay up :(

I'm going to order the part from Joe and have it overnighted to get it installed Friday. This is sooooo frustrating. So I take it super glue would be a bad idea?

You could try clear tape adhered to the window & latched, if you will, at the trim between the rubber on the door frame.

I replaced the front window tab on the DS, then cussed myself for not ordering both, of course the rear snapped shortly therafter.

Superglue would leave a crusty permanant mess... Hope the weather is nice for a day or so. Or since you're going to go ahead and pull it apart tomorrow - might as well take the door panel off and use my vice grips trick overnight...

I have used a clear suction cup (like you would find on a radar detector window mount) to hold the glass up temporarilly. Works good and is "fairly" unobtrusive.

I'm headed to Wichita right now for the weekend. Got the part overnighted from Infiniti of Scottsdale and I'll just have my local mechanic to it for CHEAP.

Nick

p.s. how fun is it going to be at 80mph with the windows down for 2 hours? I'll let you know

I have no AC (need to replace belt, pulley) so I just open everything and pretend I drive a convertible. :)

Well my mechanic was out on Friday so I took the car to Steven Infiniti of Wichita. They let me bring in my own part and got the install done in 1.3 hours. A little expensive, but worth it to have a working window.
