Fellas....

Someone broke my drivers side window to get into my car.

All they took was my girlfriends navigation...

I have a meeting tonight that I cant miss in a so-so neighborhood, and I need to go to court ironically enough tomorrow morning in a bad neighborhood tomorrow... I need this fixed NOW!

Safelite doesnt have any available appts today, and my nissan tech's shop doesnt have the glass in stock... They can have it tomorrow for $150, but thats tomorrow...

If I wanted to get the glass from safelite and have my tech install it, safelite wanted $263.91 just for the glass!

My car was parked right outside my house, its actually within very plain sight from where I am sitting right now...

I will soon be adding a 2-way alarm to my ride and hooking up a surveilence camera!

I just moved 2 weeks ago and this happened... Looks like the new neighborhood doesnt wanna welcome the LBC...

Im on high alert now fellas, bat by the door and eye on my ride.

wth dont you have full glass coverage with your insurance plan....Allstate has it in theirs if it breaks for whatever reason its a free replacement of a shop of your choice. i had it done once by a mobile comp that just came to my place and 20 min later all done.

That sucks dude...just make sure you don't keep electronics visible from the outside anymore!

And yea, check your insurance policy about glass - a lot of carriers cover that with no deductible too...

Navi was on dash, and it was silly of me to leave it there... My previous neighborhood was filled with older people, here theres a lot of kids around...

No i didnt hear it happen, if I did hear something, its close enough for me to be outside before someones left the scene though.

feel free to chime in w your alarm of choice.

Where were you? Most insurance carriers that provide full coverage always give you the choice of a shop of your choice and most have on site repair. Did they just break the glass or was the door frame bent?

Door frame?No, just the glass...

It was parked infront of my house, off to the side rather..

The leather on the wheel is a little ripped in one area too...

Im gonna wait till tomorrow to get the nissan glass, and put my car in a cave until then...

Whose got a trusted installer in NY that can do alarm work?

My old car, this person decided the need to try to pry the door frame first and then when he couldn't, break the window. If you have full coverage which you should you dont pay a dime for glass replacement.

Ill make a few calls.

Brian... just remember that we can ONLY use OEM windows in the Altima Coupes.. since you're getting it from the dealer, you're good to go...

and yes, the aftermarket companies charge and arm and a leg for glass that doesn't even fit correctly, go figure!

Regarding alarms, I no longer receommend the RS-1000, the viper 5901 is a good two way alrm with LCD!

Terrible times.

If your car has a modified exterior, even just wheels, it's much safer to keep the interior stock.

I'm not getting a head unit for this reason.

I've been a huge fan of DEI products (Clifford, Viper, Python, etc.) for a long time. They totally back their stuff when installed by a prof installer and it's high quality stuff too. Just my .02

its not that simple.. while DEI "historically" made great and reliable products.. two of their recent model had HUGE problems, specifically

the Viper 7900, original versionTHe Viper 7900 re-released versionThe Viper 5701 responder LE...

I would not advise ANYONE to install the above products...

i live in a very nice neighborhood and have nothing at all to worry about BUT when we were first moving in, someone broke into my moms car and the same thing happened to the people next door when they were moving in..... i guess they think that new people arnt expecting it and are vulnerable targets....

They did my remote start and upgrade my alarm to have shock sensors all from the stock remote was going to get the 2 way but opted against since i barely drive the car only 7500 miles on it since i got it.
