ok i've searched and nothing really hit my problem, i've got an 89 piggy, sometimes when i go to unlock my car with the key, it locks immediately and wont let me in, then sometimes when i go to lock the door from the inside of the car it will lock and unlock and when i try to lock again it will only locks drivers side or the lock button will be hard as hell but i can hear the motors like they are fighting to stay unlocked, im putting an alarm in and i want to use the power lock feature but i dunno if this will do that with the alarm? it's really annoying having to fight with the car to stay closed, i was reading something here that came up with the door lock timer, the hell is that? and why is it called a timer???

it just happens sometimes. mine does it too. idk why, but it usually does it to me when the keys are in the ignition, car running. its like its a sign that my car hates me. screaming "nooo dont let him drive me anymore..."

or something to that effect. and when its cold out, my car locks me inside it. i have to wiggle the lock for like 30 seconds before it opens. kinda weird...

if something is wrong with your power locks then try replacing the actuators.

The door lock timer is a small unit located in the passenger footwell behind the ECU. It controls how long to activate the power lock actuators. If there's an issue with the doors locking/relocking, your problem is either in it or the switches on the handle. The timer is pretty common in SE models, so you can easily find a junkyard unit to replace it if necessary. Just make sure to get an 89-90 model as the 91+ should be different.

hmmm...gonna go to the junk yard, they had a few S13's there see if i can pull one out, odd question, when you lock the passenger door is the drivers side supposed to lock too? you know, when you lock the drivers it locks the passengers?
