I was readin thru all the old threads the other day and realized that the wierd wire that I never hooked up was to my knock sensor so I wired it up and went to start the car..... It wouldnt start at all so I decided to take a look at the ecu and it gave me code 55 so I erased the codes and checked it again it gave me code 11 and 12 meaning bad cas and maf I was just curious about what other cas can I use and if that code means that the cas is actually bad or can I adust the timing.

I'm no expert, but that code means that the CAS is dead or the wiring is bad/disconnected. same with the MAF.

If your CAS really is dead, your best bet is you buy a used CAS from someone here on the forum. You can use the one from a 1988 nissan pulsar. Those sell new from about 200-500 dollars. You can get a used CAS for around $50 dollars from the forums.

Double check your wiring. Undo whatever you did!!! I think you probably just bumped something. rare for the MAF and CAS to both get reported as bad by the ECU at the same time.

By the way the knock sensor is shielded and that shield (the stuff in the wire that is separate from the other wire in side the wire) should not touch the signal wire that goes to the knock sensor. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

So you plug in your knock sensor and then your computer tells you that you CAS and MAF are faulted. Obviously you have a wiring issue not a MAF or CAS problem unless there is more to the story than you are posting. Don't those two events add up to anything to you? (I messed with the wiring and now my computer is telling me that my MAF and CAS are wired wrong)

Also, how are you checking the codes on the computer when you don't have "pig tails" for the sensors? Something does not add up here.

I dont have pigtail for the stock ca18det maf I have everything else. Im starting to think that I might have bumped the cas but Ima get a another one just to be safe. Also Im looking around on the internet on how some ppl wired up theyre z32 maf and there is one that is a little different than the one in the stickies.I think that NO I kno that I messed up on the z32 maf wiring it just doesnt make any sense to me how I can screw something so easy and self explanatory up.
