argh, Just pulled my CA parts down from the attic, when I put it up it had oil on it, and I wrapped it in old t-shirts/ rags and stuff, and it has been kept still and perfectly dry. well, I pull the damn thing down to start micing it out, and the bottom of the block and the water jackets have mad rust. I'm gonna get the thing tanked I guess and see how bad the damage is/ if I need to find a new longblock. Guess this is what I get for adopting somoene elses project and leaving it alone for a while myself. Just needed to vent. Anyone have any suggestions for me?

Sounds like you're on the right track. Get it cleaned up and see what the damage is. I would be surprised if it's more than just serious surface rust, but who knows?

That sucks to hear. Hopefully it's just some surface rust that can be quickly grinded off. I'm now glad I coated my whole block with some black rust preventer paint before I stored the car away for the winter.
