What's up fellow gear heads!? Hope you're well!
Anyway, I have an odd problem. My cylinder 6 injector is not firing. It's getting voltage, the PTU is doing what it's supposed to, the coil packs are firing, new spark plugs, etc.

The only thing I can think of is that who ever replaced that injector put a later model one in. My z is a 91, with the red injectors, and the one installed is a bluish purple one perhaps from a 93 -96? That, or its clogged.

Any ideas? I'm moving soon so I need this done.

The injectors aren't interchangeable between phase 1 and phase 2 without replacing the pigtail, I would venture to guess that yours is a cheap aftermarket unit and that it is probably burned out or clogged.

Interesting. So you're thinking maybe the original owner tried fixing a deaf one by replacing it with a newer model not knowing they aren't interchangeable? That's what I'm thinking now. I'm guessing I should just buy an Oem injector then? See if that works?

Thanks for the reply man.

if it was a newer one I doubt the plug would fit properly. What Nolimit is saying is that they put an aftermarket CHEAP POS stock replacement injector in there, and it has failed. I had the same issue with my z when I first got it, some of the injectors were different colors and not all were working. I bought a set of 6 stock ones from a guy here through the classifieds that was parting out his car and as each injector failed I have been using the dremel method to remove the dead injectors and replacing them with the used ones I bought. So far i have had to replace 4. and those were all teh odd colored ones.

Also just a bit of advise, when you change injectors, dont reuse the stock screws. the Philips screws tend to strip the heads out. After reshaping the manifold so that I could remove the screws I used good quality hex head screws in their place. It will save you some headaches later down the road if you ever have to go back and revisit the injector battle.

Definitely do as everpresentnoob suggested, buy some quality hexhead bolts for the injectors or check ZSpec for quality stainless bolts for that and many other things. Also, buy the old to new injector adapter kit which not only allows you to not have to replace the spendy and difficult to do fuel rail, it also fixes another injector flaw along the way and comes with quality fittings IIRC. Google Z32 injector adapter kit, JWT has one (best) as do a few other suppliers.
