Well, I finally did it. I ran over the pot-hole of the century and I could do nothing to avoid it. So now I have a slow leak from my tires and I know that the wheels are probably bent ever so slightly. I plan on getting them fixed, because I will probably use them for autox, but in the mean time I might as well get something that looks good.

I have a '98 i30t that came with the touring wheels and I want to keep the same tire width for the new wheels but I think I want to go one size up to 17's. What wheel dimensions am I looking to get?

Also, what does it mean when some wheels have a machined lip versus other wheels that are one piece? What are some good lightweight wheel manufacturers?

I really like the Rota P45F's but they only come in 18" Is there anything comparable to them from another manufacturer?

Optimal size is 17x8 with a +35mm to +40mm offset and a 235/45 tire... if you want to retain the stock 215 width tire for a 215/50/17 tire, you'll probably want just a 7" wide wheel, similar offset.

Machined lip just means the lip is shiny, rather than painted. Machined lip does not imply that a wheel is 2-piece or 3-piece construction.

For lightweight wheels look at Kosei (affordable), BBS (expensive), Rota (affordable), Enkei (kinda-expensive), Volk (expensive), SSR (expensive)...
