Ive been having some problems with starting the car. Tested the battery and it came out ok, then I decided to test the alternator by disconnecting the negative terminal while it was running. As soon as I did, the car started hesitating like it wanted to die, so i revved it a little and the lights became brighter (This was at night and i had the lights on.)

I revved it a little more then POP! And a big blue flash. Then the car died.I blew out the low beam part of the headlights, as well as the parking lights, and just 2? of the gauge lights. And now my stereo doesnt want to turn on, and it seems like there is no power going to it. Iv'e checked the stereo fuses and they are good, so were the headlight fuses. I had to aim my lights down and drive home with my highbeams on, (Which still worked, all 4 bulbs but just on highbeam). Oh yea, the lcd screen that showed the time is out, the light turns on but the display is out.

So anyways, whats up with the stereo... Any ideas? I really hope it isnt blown out, cause i dont have the cash to buy another 300 dollar stereo. Im letting it sit overnight with both terminals disconnected so the computer can reset. Hopefully nothing happend to the ECU. I would think the damn fuses were supposed to blow beforehand anyways

umm, u shouldn't have tested the alternator that way; i thought it was a given not to do this on a car w/ ECU-controlled fuel injection (u can get away w/ it on the old-school cars w/ carbs)

that much V-spike from testing it that way probably fried some wiring/circuit boards

Ok, so the only damage done was my headlights bulbs and sidemarker bulbs burned out. Thankfully I got an extra set of silverstars i can put in and a bunch of 194 bulbs.

What exactly does the "Electron Batt" Fuse do??? I guess i didnt look too carefully and that was blown out. After wards everything works fine. Ah well.rks fine. Ah well.
