Alright, I have six cats and have had a problem with one or two of them constantly getting on top of my car and leaving literally a pound of dirt. They also like to leave mud, scratch marks, and smear my windshield. So this has really pissed me off over the years but not like until now. After I came home from a week in Mexico, I washed my baby, a pristine S13 Hatchback with the original paint, clearcoat, and a healthy dose of wax. While washing it I discovered where one of the cats had apparently lost his grip slipped of the car and tried to use his nails for grip down the left quarter panel. Also, to top it off, the next day after countless hours washing, cleaning, and quick detailing I find another layer of mud, dirt, leaves, and scratches all over my baby.

What can I do?! Have you guys had this problem before. I've looked into the idea of an ultrasonic sound and motion device but I am still unsure as to what would be the most effective.

Well, I'm allergic, so as I would try and fix it, I would probably die.Car cover sounds like an ample solution

Lol, yeah I saw that awhile back. About the car cover, I need something besides a car cover because I am constantly driving my car and it would be highly impractical to take it on and off every 2-5 hours.

Oh you are lucky, or should I say your cats. See my cats are sneaky little bastards and they wait till I'm either alseep, and or away for awhile, and thats when they seek and destroy. They know they are not supposed to be up there, and If I ever caught them on my car they would get a blast of the powersprayer. Believe me, I've held stakeouts to see when they do it, and every once in a while I will randomly run outside to catch them. I've only caught them once or twice and thats how I know who the culprit is.

at least put the car cover on at night or when you wont be driving for awhile. The problem often is though, that they like to lay on the hood of a car when it's warm, which would be when you are driving alot. You can certainly cut down on it with a car cover at night though.

I'm still a little iffy on the car cover because I'm lazy, but I suppose you could argue that if you really love your car blah blah blah. When I started this thread I was really looking for anyone who knows anything about those eletronic ultrasonic devices designed to drive pests away. Or maybe something even more unique.

Everytime you catch them on your car, squirt them with a water bottle. It works wonders, especially in the winter.

I have a friend that could hear his cat jump on his truck. He would be like, "did you hear that?" I'm like, "no." And he would sling the door open and hit the puss with the super soaker, or either toss a cup of cold water on him. It did help he parked right in front of his door.

My parents have the same problem with their car. Only the cat isn't theirs. It's the neighbor's cat. But it likes nothing more than sleeping on the hood of the Maxima. BAD kitty. Get away from the car!

I like the water squirter idea...I'll have to tell them to try that.

It works. We just pretty much let our cat sleep on the cars. Keeps her the heck outside, and not sleeping on my shoulder. She is a big kitty, and I have a bad shoulder.
