I don't want to see engine-ism of any sort in this 'ere holy place of Nissan V8 worship !

P.S. feel free to delete this thread when the change has been made !

P.P.S. the list of quick links on the right fails to include this subforum

P.P.P.S. I rock !

If you say so...

Oh... the power difference is negligible, and the VH41 has 1. better heads and 2. a decent timing chain guide that DOESN'T break ^_^

Wes you just make me all the more determined to get my engine cranking a much higher power output than your own Hahaha but it won't be in a Q45tank, and it's manual, so I guess it'll already be faster

it is only negligable because they are factory stated under-rated power figures.

the extra 0.4 litres capacity is the easiet 60rwhp you could get

I used to have qualms with the VH41, but i really dont anymore... It may have a shorter stroke, but you can really make that thing a screamer if you want... The 45 still is the king, but the 41 is a worthy brother.... I dont want to sound like im talking smack, because as long as you have a VHsomething in your sh1t, then im golden.....

As long as you dont have a VQ or a VK, im a happy guy!!!!!

BTW once i build my Q up, im not going for the same things your going for so its kind of apples and oranges.. You can never build a true performance sports car on a Q45 chassis.....!

Wes, 45s are not very common in New Zealand, seeing as we got the JDM spec cars here... and 41s are typically used here in stock car racing where 4.0 litres is the max displacement (248ci I think ?), they destroke them slightly I think.

Anyways, can you please find out for me how much it'd cost to obtain a VH45DE crankshaft ? I'd probably go for aftermarket rods to the 45 spec, and retain the stock pistons. If you could get one for me at a reasonable price... I'd seriously consider turning mine into a 4.5l hybrid VH41DE :p

Itd be best IMO to find someone here inthe states that lost their Q to the guide problem and is parting the enigne out.....

You might send "Q45denver" an email..... he was parting out a couple Vh45s, im not sure if he has the motors anymore though....

Even if you had to have the crank redone a bit you could probably pick one up really cheap... shipping would be RAPE down to aussieworld, but itd surely be cheaper than buying a new one.

>_< New Zealand and Australia are separate countries, separated by a large body of water ! That comment is akin to saying the USA is part of Canada... NZers have a fierce rivalry with Australians

As for shipping... any idea on the weight of a 45 crank ? I regularly send stuff to the USA and other countries, and typically don't pay as much as you'd expect, I could arrange shipping for around NZ$500, that's about US$300... which I reckon is pretty reasonable aye !

i didnt know you were in NZ.. Ill just say "down undah" from now on, its more generic, but at least I know now. Then again, us 'mericas is ignant ... The famous saying goes.. What do you call a person who speaks 3 languages..? tri-lingual... what do you call a person who speaks 2 languages? Bi-lingual. What do you call a person who speaks one language? American....

Another person I know that was from Japan often describes canadians as "americans without the gun"..

Back on topic, i dont know how much it weighs but its not light... Id guess at least 100lbs maybe? I really dont know, as I havent had a VH torn down that far.. ive only toted a few crankshafts around and im not very good at guessing heavy things... however id assume it weighs similar to a 4.6L ford crank.. that information should be easily available.....

Your right though, $300 for shipping would be good if you think you can pull it off, at least the box wouldnt be terribly big..... You could probably score a crank for around $100.

If any of you guys out in NZ need some VH45's, cores or running motors, let me know. We can get some shipped out to you. All my local yards have the Q's everywhere.

Dude maybe we could look into arranging some kind of ship+sell arrangement. All the VH45 motors you see here are way overpriced, NZD$1750+

If we brought over a couple of VH45s we could sell them at $1000-$1200 each, and guarantee to flick off one or two every month !

How much would you want, to source me a VH45 crankshaft, rods & pistons ?
