your police force is out of control, and your solution to appease the latino community in your town is to eat tacos?

you all know that i'm on the lesser extreme of sensitive, but being a member of the community that's being persecuted regularly in that town, i can't help but still feel some type of way. the douche needs to resign. blatant stereotyping, coupled with complete disregard for the years of harassment the town's law enforcement has displayed for the lawful treatment of its citizens is unacceptable. this isn't a one-time f***-up, it's a culmination of years of s***.RobPaulson wrote:+1Dattebayo wrote:People are too sensitive
corned beef and cabbage is an irish staple. tacos are not a latino staple. besides, it was his plan to eat said tacos as a way to support and calm disgruntled community members that is particularly insensitive, ignorant, and disgusting coming from a town mayor.Dattebayo wrote:But I'm not going to get all bent out of shape because I happen to like corned beef and cabbage like my stereotype says I would.
You think he was trying to calm the members of the community? LOLnumbnuts240 wrote:it was his plan to eat said tacos as a way to support and calm disgruntled community members that is particularly insensitive, ignorant, and disgusting coming from a town mayor.
and having no contingency plan for making his community members feel at ease makes his remark permissible as faux pas and the people he offended and ignored for years sensitive?Dattebayo wrote:You think he was trying to calm the members of the community? LOL
It was obviously a brainlessly quick remark having no intention of any planned action. This is what I mean as being sensitive, I can't read that as being anything more as him not thinking well enough before he said what he did.

indeed, in general conversation with people i know that comment would have been laughed off and never mentioned again, but out of the mouth of a public official it was quite inappropriate.numbnuts240 wrote: you all know that i'm on the lesser extreme of sensitive, but being a member of the community that's being persecuted regularly in that town, i can't help but still feel some type of way. the douche needs to resign. blatant stereotyping, coupled with complete disregard for the years of harassment the town's law enforcement has displayed for the lawful treatment of its citizens is unacceptable. this isn't a one-time f***-up, it's a culmination of years of bullsh*t.
