Remember I ran 235/45/17 Kumho SPT tires on my car for 22k miles about 11 months. I complained about the car bottoming out often.

Here are pictures of the damage from bottoming out LOL

I am so close to open exhaust!!!

That looks like the best excuse ever for getting a new exhaust system. The wife can't complain about that one... You're not modding your car, you're simply repairing it.

I think electric cuts outs would make the most cost effective repair??

What I would really really really like to do is high flow cats true dual 2.5" exhaust and Magnaflow glasspacks with 2.5" in and 3" out.

That would sound amazing!!!

I say take it off.

Although, some people may categorize that as being "ghetto"

I am curious as to how it would sound though...

And, I do agree with Beancooker in that now would be a great opportunity to get a new exhaust system.

Its up to you...

...choose wisely...

or else

j/k

I've ran open header exhaust once... on my Ram. I melted some pretty important parts that I thought were far enough away from the pipes to be safe.

Exhaust is 1400-1700 degrees at the header

Sounds like you need a new one... It could be a tax write off!

I want to hear it when you are done!

Tell your wife it is for the new standards by the EPA

Beano, I couldn't agree more. It is simply a repair---period!

GWoods:

I once ran my G for a few minutes after installing the test pipes without the 02 sensors attached to the bong---the bong was exposed. It sounded mighty intimidating and really nice---you could hear the whole exhaust in all its majesty without the restrictions. I loved it. Unfortunately, it was just too noisy for everyday use. For some, the noise could be really aweful and troubling.

Hey Jeff, Sorry to hear about the the undercarriage damage... you probably have too many kids weighing down the back seat! HAHAHA... J/K... Hope the family is doing well. I've been seriously tossing around the idea of a new exhaust as well... i couldn't bring myself to drop the $1200 on a stillen, but Tanabe just released the new Medalion touring dual catback for our G and it's only $550!!! That may be worth it! We can do a dual install if you want... Keep in touch... Dave

Sucks to see the G torn up like that. The good news however is that it looks like you have really only damaged the heat shields. While it is not aesthetically appealing if its just the aluminum shields that are scratched the integrity of the pipe is not altered.

However, The sound of the G sedans with exhaust is great.

Yeah I agree Steve,

The only spot that is even an issue is the flexible stainless steel mesh part right after the cats. I looked and there is some other pipe under the steel mesh so I think I'm good.

Dr Wife works 40+ hours a week at not for profit clinic and has a home mortgage worth of student loans so that means that we are poor, otherwise I'd be on the GTR forum

1 brother and 4 sisters, all married but 1 sister (FAT LOL) and the brother. 2 out of the other 4 sisters are dr also, the brother is in medical school, wifes mom is also a dr. 1 of her sisters just bought a Mercedes CLS 550, I am so happy for her and jealous! She isn't working at not for profit

Hey Jeff

If your wife or her sisters decide to be generous and give you a new GTR to play with, you wanna throw me a bone?
